
Terriers, Retrievers to Clash in America East Semifinals Thursday

Etrasco Named Co-Player of the Year; BU Earns Six All-Conference Honors
BOSTON - The second-seeded Boston University lacrosse team will battle third-seeded UMBC in the America East tournament semifinals on Thursday (May 5) at Albany's Jack Fallon Field. Game time is set at 3:30 p.m.
The Terriers (8-8, 4-2 AE) will enter the postseason seeking its seventh straight league title and are 21-4 all-time in the America East tournament. The Terriers and Retrievers concluded conference play with identical 4-2 records, but BU earned the No. 2 seed after defeating UMBC, 13-9, in the regular season.
America East Co-Player of the Year Danielle Etrasco leads the Terrier offense in goals (53) and points (61) and ranks second in draw controls (40). The first-team attacker is tied for first in the conference in game-winning goals (4) and sits second in goals per game (3.31) and points per game (3.81) and fourth in draw controls per game (2.50).
Senior Corcoran Downey, who also received first-team recognition, paces the squad with 37 ground balls and 20 draw controls. BU's third first-team member, Rachel Collins, has registered a career-high 50 draw controls, which ranks third in the conference and ties for third on the program's single-season list.
UMBC (10-6, 4-2 AE) will enter the game after falling to Albany in its regular-season finale. All-conference first-team member Alicia Krause leads the team in goals (35), points (50), ground balls (28), draw controls (26) and caused turnovers (18).
The Terriers are 11-1 all-time against UMBC and have won their past six meetings against the Retrievers. The winner of Thursday's semifinal matchup will advance to the championship game on Saturday (May 7) against either Albany or New Hampshire.
