BOSTON - Boston University senior Molly Swain and junior Danielle Etrasco will serve as team captains for the upcoming lacrosse season, sixth-year head coach Liz Robertshaw announced Tuesday.
"Molly and Danielle were chosen captains of the 2011-12 team because of their leadership skills and understanding of what it will take to be the best BU lacrosse team we can be," said Robertshaw. "Over the past year they have consistently demonstrated the actions and attitudes necessary to be great team leaders."
Named a captain for the second consecutive year, Swain had her best season yet as a junior. Placed on the America East All-Academic Team with a 3.44 GPA, the attacker collected career-highs in goals (25), assists (6), points (31), ground balls (9), caused turnovers (5) and draw controls (3).
Etrasco had a breakout year in her sophomore campaign, earning America East Co-Player of the Year accolades. Recently named to the U.S. Women's Lacrosse National Team, the attacker ranked in the top 10 in the country in both goals (57) and goals per game (3.35), while her four game-winning markers tied for second in the conference and 2.41 draw controls per game tied for fourth.
