BOSTON - Becoming the first member of the Boston University women's lacrosse team since 2010 to earn a national honor, junior Danielle Etrasco was tabbed an All-American by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) on Sunday night.
Placed on the third team, Etrasco received her second consecutive All-Region honor from the IWLCA last Thursday. The two-time America East All-Conference First Team member started all 17 games this season and led BU in goals (58) and points (80), while ranking second in the conference in both categories. Etrasco also led the team with 49 draw controls and ranked second on the squad with 22 assists.
McKinley Curro ('10) was the last Terrier to receive an All-America nod from WomensLacrosse.com in 2010. In 2009, the IWLCA selected three Terriers to the All-America squad with Sarah Dalton ('09) being placed on the first team. Curro and Kelly Munroe ('09) received Third Team accolades that season as well.
A native of Massapequa, N.Y., Etrasco had a career day on Saturday, April 28, as she tied her career high with nine points in BU's 18-16 win at Binghamton. Etrasco notched five goals and posted a career-high four assists to propel the Terriers to a victory and secure BU's first perfect record (6-0) in America East Play since 2009.
The junior scored at least one goal in every game this season. She ranks eighth in the nation in goals per game (3.41) and points per game (4.71).
The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on June 16, 2012 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King Prussia, Pa.
