CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - After scoring a pair of goals to help the Boston University field hockey team earn a 3-1 win at Lehigh, freshman Amanda Cassera has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Cassera scored once in each half on Saturday to lead the Terriers to the victory in their first-ever meeting with the River Hawks. In the 22nd minute, she took a feed from fellow freshman Bea Baumberger Altirriba and sent it in to make it a 2-0 game. Early in the second half she punched in a rebound for her team-leading seventh goal of the season.
This is the second time Cassera has received a weekly League honor, as she was the first Player of the Week this season following her hat-trick performance in her collegiate debut.
Cassera and the Terriers will return to action on Saturday (Oct. 18) when they play host to Bucknell at noon. BU can take over second place in the Patriot League standings with a victory.
