BOSTON - The Boston University field hockey team (8-5, 3-1 Patriot League) will look to move to second in the Patriot League standings when it hosts Bucknell (7-6, 4-0 PL) on Saturday at New Balance Field. The game, which starts at noon, will be broadcast on the Patriot League Network.
Bucknell and American are tied atop the conference standings with 4-0 records, just a game ahead of the third-place Terriers. A win by BU would keep its hopes of a regular-season title alive and also secure a spot in the league tournament.
The Terriers and Bison have met just once before, as BU posted a 5-0 victory at Temple in the second game of the 2011 season.
BU is back home after a road trip last weekend that saw them top Lehigh, 3-1, before falling at No. 4 Connecticut by a score of 5-1.
Bucknell is coming off a split weekend at home, blanking Holy Cross, 7-0, on Saturday before being on the other side of a shutout in a 2-0 loss to No. 8 Penn State. The Bison's other wins this season have come against Ohio State, Penn, Lafayette, Lehigh, Colgate and Missouri State.
Senior Rachel Misko leads the Bison in both points (17) and goals (8). Classmate Leigh Hillman (7g, 2a) and sophomore Abby Watson (6g, 2a) have contributed 16 and 15 points, respectively.
Erica Perrine has started in goal for all of Bucknell's 13 games this season and she sports a 1.82 goals-against average and a .685 save percentage.
1 Freshman standout Amanda Cassera continues to lead the Terriers in scoring this season with 14 points on seven goals. Sophomore Sofi Laurito (5g) and senior Anne Fruitema (4g, 2a) have posted 10 points each.
Despite giving up five goals to UConn, junior Valentina Cerda Eimbcke continues to put up impressive numbers in goals-against average (1.49) and save percentage (.767).
