
Field Hockey Shuts Out Crosstown Rival Northeastern, 2-0

DEDHAM, Mass. - The Boston University field hockey team earned its second 2-0 win in as many days, blanking crosstown rival Northeastern at Dedham Field on Sunday. Senior Nell Burdis and Rachel Coll scored for the Terriers, who improve to 10-5.
Junior Valentina Cerda Eimbcke capped a perfect weekend in the BU goal, stopping all five shots she faced. BU's defense was dominant, allowing just one corner and eight shots.
Burdis scored for the third straight game, as all three of her career goals have come in the past eight days. She broke a scoreless deadlock with just 1:30 left in the opening half when knocked in a pass from Coll right in front of the cage.
The Terriers earned just one corner in the second half by they made the most of it to double their lead in the 49th minute. Following an insert by freshman Hester van der Laan, senior Ysi Schieb set up the ball for Coll, who drilled home a shot from the top of the circle for her first goal of the season.
BU held an 11-8 shot advantage and earned four corners on the afternoon. Becky Garner recorded six saves in goal for the Huskies.
The Terriers will close out the regular season on a three-game homestand, beginning with a contest against California on Friday (Oct. 25). Game time at New Balance Field is set for 5 p.m.
