The Boston University field hockey team had two players earn 2013 Longstreth/NFHCA All-Region honors, as senior back Ysi Schieb was named to the Northeast First Team and sophomore midfielder Sofi Laurito was a second-team selection.
This is the first NFHCA All-Region honor for both Schieb and Laurito, who were each named to the All-Patriot League First Team this season while helping BU reach the Patriot League title game in its first year in the conference.
Schieb, the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, enjoyed a standout senior season for a Terrier squad that posted six shutouts on the year. She also was a big factor on the offensive end, tying for third on the team with 13 points on three goals and a squad-best seven assists. A three-time PL Defensive Player of the Week, Schieb has been selected to participate in the NFHCA Division I Senior Game next week in Virginia.
One of the top offensive players in the region, Laurito lived up to her preseason All-Patriot League billing and shared the team lead in both goals (8) and points (16). She scored a goal in eight of BU's 18 contests this season and three of her tallies were game-winners.
