The Boston University women's lacrosse team volunteered at the Salvation Army's Thanksgiving meal distribution in Roxbury on Saturday. This year marked the third-consecutive Thanksgiving season in which the women's lacrosse team donated their time to help feed the less fortunate.
The team arrived at the Salvation Army's Roxbury location before 10 a.m. and got to work on an assembly line in a room filled with groceries. The student-athletes filled 400 bags with potatoes, carrots, onions, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, and pie.
By noon, a line of families formed outside the building on Vernon St. The families were escorted inside, greeted by BU women's lacrosse players and given a bag of groceries along with a roasting pan and a frozen turkey. In all, over 400 turkey dinners were given out on the day, along with countless amounts of goodwill.
