BOSTON - For the second consecutive season, senior Danielle Etrasco of the Boston University women's lacrosse team has earned All-America honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as announced by the organization on Wednesday.
Placed on the second team, Etrasco received her third consecutive All-Region honor from the IWLCA last week. The three-time America East All-Conference First Team member finished the season with a team-high 79 points as she led BU in goals (59) and assists (20). It was the third straight season that the attack scored at least 50 goals while her 59 tallies in 2013 were a personal best.
The Massapequa, N.Y., native was one of two Terriers to register at least one point in every game this season. She ranks third in Division I with 3.69 goals per game while her 4.94 points per game are seventh in the nation
The tri-captain had a career day against then-No. 15 Ohio State on March 16, when she set the program's single-game points record. Etrasco recorded 12 points off of eight goals and four assists to record the second-most points scored by a player in the NCAA this season and bested the previous school record of nine points, which she had set with nine goals against Binghamton during the 2012 season.
Etrasco has etched her name throughout the BU record books, as she finished her career with 248 points to rank second in program history. She also ranks second in goals (192) while her 157 draw controls are third. Additionally, her 56 assists are 10th all-time.
After being named to the third team last season, Etrasco becomes the fifth player in program history to earn multiple All-America honors during her career. Sarah Dalton was named to the third team in 2007 before two consecutive first team honors in 2008 and 2009. Chrissy Lombard received back-to-back second team honors in 2000 and 2001 following a third team honor in 1999 while Alyssa Trudel was named to the second team in 2003 and the first team in 2005. McKinley Curro was a two-time third team All-American in 2009 and 2010.
Etrasco will continue her career this summer, as she is the first player in BU history to be a member of the U.S. Women's National Team roster that will compete for the 2013 Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup in July.
The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on May 25, 2013 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King Prussia, Pa.
