BOSTON – Former Boston University women’s lacrosse standout Danielle Etrasco and the Terriers’ head coach Liz Robertshaw will both return to the field this weekend when the U.S. Women’s National Team plays the Canadian National Team in an exhibition on Saturday.
The game will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., as part of the U.S. Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament.
Etrasco will also be in action on Sunday when she participates in the IWLCA North-South Senior All-Star Game held at Cabrini College in Radnor, Pa. She was named to the North team after a standout senior season with the Terriers. The IWLCA Second Team All-American capped her career at BU with 79 points during her senior campaign as she led the team in goals (59) and assists (20).
Etrasco registered at least one point in every game this season as she finished the year with over 50 goals for the third straight season. The attack set the program’s single-game points record when she posted 12 points off eight goals and four assists against then-No. 15 Ohio State on March 16.
The Massapequa, N.Y., native became the first played in program history to be named to the final U.S. Women’s National Team roster that will take part in the 2013 Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup in July. She will join Robertshaw, who is in assistant for the U.S. Women’s National Team.
Team USA will come together on Saturday for the first time since the Champion Challenge in January to take on Team Canada in an exhibition as both teams prepare for the upcoming FIL World Cup. It will be the first game for the 18-player World Cup squad since the final roster was announced in February, as well as Team USA’s last international competition prior to the World Cup.
