CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Boston University field hockey team claimed half of the final four Patriot League weekly field hockey honors of the season on Monday, as sophomore Amanda Cassera was named Corvais Offensive Player of the Week and freshman Allie Renzi was selected as the Corvais Rookie of the Week.
Cassera scored two goals in the Terriers' 4-1 win over Colgate in the regular-season finale on Saturday. Renzi added her team-best fifth defensive save of the season and was a key factor in BU's defensive efforts that limited the Raiders to just seven shots and three corners.
In the 14th minute, Cassera put the Terriers up 2-0 when she sent home a pass from fellow sophomore Hester van der Laan. She made it a 3-0 game in the 45th minute when she knocked in a loose ball in the circle. With her two-goal effort, Cassers finished the regular season with 11 goals, three more than anyone else in the Patriot League.
Renzi took home the rookie honor for the second time in as many weeks while Cassera earned the Offensive Player of the Week accolade for the first time this season and the second time in her career.
With the victory over Colgate, the Terriers clinched the No. 2 seed for this weekend's upcoming Patriot League tournament at top-seeded Bucknell. BU will face third-seeded American on Friday (Nov. 7) in the semifinals beginning at 2 p.m.
