
Laurito Named to NFHCA All-American Second Team

BOSTON - Junior Sofi Laurito of the Boston University field hockey team has earned a spot on the 2014 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-American Second Team, as announced on Monday.
The Buenos Aires, Argentina, native was the 2014 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year. As the catalyst for the Terrier offense, she totaled 18 points on six goals and six assists in 19 games. The midfielder scored both goals in a 2-1 triumph over ACC regular-season champion Virigina and three of her tallies on the year were game-winners.
She went on to receive NFHCA All-Region First Team accoloades after earning second-team honors last year as a sophomore.
Laurito becomes the fourth All-American for BU in the last four seasons. Jacinda McLeod was a two-time honoree (2011, 2012), Ella Gunson earned second-team honors in 2012 and Ysi Schieb was a third-team pick last season.
American's Grace Wilson, who was named the third team, was the only other Patriot League player to earn All-American honors on Monday.
