Gunson Competing for Champions Trophy

Former Boston University field hockey All-American Ella Gunson is competing with the New Zealand national team in the 2014 Champions Trophy tournament, held in Mendoza, Argentina.
Gunson and the Black Sticks finished atop Pool A with two wins and a draw to earn a quarterfinal date with England on Thursday (Dec. 4).
In the opener against Japan, Gunson scored the game winner in a 2-1 triumph. After a 1-1 draw with The Netherlands, New Zealand wrapped up pool play by scoring off two penalty corners to post a 2-0 victory over China.
Gunson, who joined the BU program after competing in the 2012 Olympics, posted 26 points during the 2012 season on nine goals and 12 assists en route to being named America East Midfielder of the Year. She went on to earn a spot on the 2012 NFHCA All-American Second Team.
