
Coll, Van Der Laan Earn Academic All-PL Honors

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Senior back Rachel Coll and junior midfielder Hester van der Laan have been named to the 2015 Academic All-Patriot League Field Hockey Team, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Coll and van der Laan joined nine of their conference mates on the 11-member team, honoring the best and brightest in the Patriot League.
To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
Coll, who was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year on Tuesday, is a business administration & management major in the Questrom School of Business and has a 3.33 cumulative GPA. She ranks fourth on the Terriers this season in points with 15 (5g, 5a). The New Zealand native has been incredibly efficient around the cage, scoring her five goals on just 11 shots. She also has been the insert for every BU corner this season, helping that unit convert at one of its highest rates in recent memory.
Van der Laan, now a two-time All-Patriot League First Team selection, has turned in an impressive junior campaign, ranking third on the team in points (18) and second in goals (7) to go along with four assists. She is a perfect 5-for-5 in penalty strokes. The Dutch standout is a mechanical engineering major in the College of Engineering and has a 3.23 cumulative GPA.
