CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Four Terriers earned spots on the All-Patriot League teams, the conference announced on Monday afternoon. Jill Horka was voted to the first team for the second straight season while Mallory Collins, Siobhan McCarthy and Caroline Meegan claimed spots on the second team.
Horka, who was named to the preseason All-Patriot League team, has had a standout season in the midfield. So far this season she has corralled 56 draw controls, which ranks second all-time in the Boston University record book and is two shy of the school record. Her performance this season also put her on the career record list for draw controls, moving into fifth place this weekend with a total of 133 in the last three seasons. Nationally, she ranks 20th with an average of 3.0 draw controls per game. Horka has 16 points (13g, 3a) so far this year and a team-high 18 caused turnovers.
Collins leads BU with 36 points including 35 goals, which ranks sixth in the Patriot League. She scored four or more goals on five occasions this season and has had nine multi-goal games this season. Aside from being a spark on offense, Collins has caused 10 turnovers, scooped up 19 groundballs and collected 15 draw controls so far this season.
McCarthy, a team captain, has been the anchor of the Terrier defense this season. She has accumulated 17 groundballs and caused 13 turnovers this year. McCarthy is often looked to take control of the game and bring the ball into the offensive end with speed.
Meegan's performance in net as a sophomore earned her a spot on the second team. She is averaging a league-high 2.47 groundballs per game and owns a .471 save percentage, the third-best mark in the conference. Meegan has ranked in the top-15 nationally in both save percentage and goals against average this season.
