McClain, Landsman Collect Weekly Patriot Awards

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The No. 13 Boston University field hockey team was honored for its efforts on both sides of the ball in its two-weekend as seniors Madeline McClain and Ellie Landsman were named the Patriot Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.
McClain had the best weekend of her BU career, capping the scoring in Saturday's 5-0 rout of Lehigh before scoring the game's lone goal in overtime on Sunday to push the Terriers past then-No. 13 Boston College, 1-0. The goals were McClain's first of the season.
BU allowed just two shots on goal over the weekend - both against BC - as Landsman was intstrumental in leading the Terriers to a pair of shutout victories. Lehigh did not record a shot attempt until the final minute of regulation and BC was held to a season-low six shots and was blanked for the first time in 22 regular-season games, dating back to Sept. 25 of last season.
This is the first weekly Patriot League honor for McClain during her BU career while it's the second for Landsman, who earned Rookie of the Week accolades once in 2013.
McClain, Landsman and the rest of the eight-member senior class will be honored prior to this Friday's home contest against Holy Cross. Game time is 7 p.m.
