HARTFORD, Conn. - The No. 5/4 Boston University men's ice hockey team returned to Hockey East play and earned a 2-1 road victory over Connecticut in the opener of a home-and-home weekend with the Huskies.
THE RUNDOWN
Final Score: #5/4 Boston University 2, Connecticut 1
Records: BU (6-3-1, 2-0-1 HE), Connecticut (3-4-5, 1-2-1 HE)
Location: XL Center – Hartford, Conn.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- First-period goals from sophomore Jordan Greenway and freshman Gabriel Chabot gave the Terriers a cushion they would not relinquish as junior goaltender Connor LaCouvee stopped 28 of the 29 shots he faced to pick up the win in his first start of the season.
- Greenway's bid from the top of the right circle was redirected through traffic and sailed over the shoulder of UConn netminder Rob Nichols just 3:28 into the contest.
- Just as freshman Patrick Curry drew a penalty in the slot, Chabot corralled the loose puck and wristed a shot from the right side that found the far corner of the net for his first collegiate goal at 16:01 of the opening period.
- With 13:04 left in regulation, the Huskies spoiled LaCouvee's shutout bid when Spencer Naas converted from the left dot following a cross-ice pass by Benjamin Freeman.
- Nichols made 24 stops for UConn.

- The Huskies held a 29-26 shot advantage.
- BU is now 4-1-1 all-time against the Huskies.
- Harper assisted on Greenway's tally to bump his team-best point total to 15 (5g, 10a).
