BOSTON - Jill Horka and Mallory Collins of the Boston University women's lacrosse team each earned a spot on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Northeast Region Second Team, the organization announced on Friday afternoon.
The pair is two of 128 Division I student-athletes to be named to an all-region team this year and the first time either Horka or Collins has earned the distinction in their careers.
For the third-straight season, Horka earned a spot on the All-Patriot League First Team. She made her mark in the midfield this season, setting the new Boston University career draw control record before re-setting the BU season standard, which she previously broke last season. She finished her career with 236 draw controls after totaling an incredible 91 this season. In her final game on Nickerson Field, Horka matched the BU single-game draw control record, grabbing 13 against Bucknell in the Patriot League Quarterfinal game.
The Westborough, Mass. native totaled 16 goals and seven assists this year and has dominated the hustle stats, totaling a team-high 32 caused turnovers and 28 ground balls. Horka has been on an all-conference team in all four of her years wearing the Scarlet and White.
Collins led the team in scoring this year, finishing with 39 goals and six assists. She will leave BU with the ninth-most career goals among Terriers, finishing her time at BU with 142. The Hingham, Mass. native led BU in scoring in each of the last two seasons, making a strong return after missing her sophomore season due to injury. Collins was named the America East Rookie of the Year after leading all freshmen in BU's former conference with 45 goals and 53 points.
