July 27, 2016 | Women's Lacrosse
BOSTON—The Boston University women's lacrosse team was named a 2016 Division I Academic Honor Squad by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon.
This is the third consecutive year that the Terriers have been included on this list. In order to qualify for the honor, the school must have posted a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher as a team throughout the year.
BU completed the 2015-16 academic year with a team GPA of 3.19, helping the department achieve its highest GPA across all 24 varsity teams as it finished the year with a cumulative average of 3.16.
Janelle Macone and Taylor Hardison helped the team reach its highest GPA in six years, the previous high being a 3.23 in 2009-10, by earning a spot on the Academic All-Patriot League Team. Hardison, who finished the year with a 3.67 GPA in the Questrom School of Business, was also named to the all-academic team in 2015. Macone, also a member of Questrom, finished the year with a 3.53 GPA.
The Terriers also had a program-record setting year with 13 student-athletes named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, led by Christine Laible, who was one of just 17 Patriot League women's lacrosse student-athletes to earn a perfect 4.0 GPA during their semester of competition.
In total, 16 Terriers achieved a 3.0 or higher last year including eight that finished with a 3.5 or better grade point average.
