July 29, 2016 | Women's Lacrosse
BOSTON—Taylor Hardison and Janelle Macone each earned a spot on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll, the organization announced on Friday afternoon.
To be eligible for the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and be at least an academic junior.
Both Macone and Hardison earn the honor for the second consecutive year and both were named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, marking the first time the Terriers have been represented by more than one student-athlete on the team.
Hardison finished the season leading the conference in assists and ranking 13th nationally in assists, totaling 36 this past season. The Darien, Conn. native started in all 18 games last year and scored 42 points in the game, the second-highest total on the team. She reached a new career high with four assists against Fairfield and went on to match that performance three more times including against Army West Point in the regular season finale.
The junior boasts a 3.64 grade point average in the Questrom School of Business and is majoring in Business Administration and Management.
Macone is a mainstay for a dominant Terrier defense, starting every game last season. She helped BU limit opponents to just 7.67 goals per game and 23.2 shots per game throughout the conference schedule.
The Stoneham, Mass. native holds a 3.58 GPA as a Business Administration and Management major in the Questrom School of Business.
Earlier this week, the IWLCA announce that Boston University was one of 93 Division I programs to earn Academic Honor Squad distinction. BU completed the 2015-16 academic year with a team GPA of 3.19, the team's best mark since 2009-10, helping the department achieve its highest-ever GPA across all 24 varsity teams as it finished the year with a cumulative average of 3.16.
