Hammel Repeats as PL Defensive Player of the Week
September 20, 2016 | Field Hockey
Hammel was impressive on both ends of the field, scoring a career-high six points on two goals and two assists while anchoring a defense that did not allow the Raiders to record a shot on goal.
After setting up classmate Allie Doggett's goal to open the scoring, Hammel gave BU a 2-0 lead with a corner goal in the 50th minute and also added another tally off a corner just over six minutes later. She finished off her career day with an assist on senior Taylor Blood's goal in the 59th minute.
This is the second time in as many weeks that Hammel has won the weekly award. She now has 10 points (4g, 2a) on the year and has been a key cog in a defense that has only allowed three goals over the past five contests.
