BOSTON – Following earning its first season-opening victory in five seasons, the Boston University women's basketball team will start a three-game road swing as it visits New Hampshire on Wednesday, Nov. 15 with tipoff slated for 7 p.m.
OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT
- The Terriers held on against Northeastern, 74-73, Friday night to pick up its first season-opening win since the 2012-13 season.
- Payton Hauck led the Terriers with a career-high 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while Sophie Beuadry followed with 14 points on an efficient 6-of-7 shooting clip.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
- Freshmen Katie Nelson and Tenisha Pressley registered impressive performances in the season opener. Nelson earned the start at point guard and dished out a game-high eight assists.
- Pressley saw 24 minutes off the bench, chipping in with seven points and four rebounds.
- Nelson and Pressley netted half of BU's points in the third quarter, as they combined to go 6-for-6 shooting from the floor.
BLOCK PARTY
- Sophie Beaudry leads the Patriot League with 4.0 blocks per game.
- The senior led the league with 2.1 blocks per game a season ago and was named to both the All-Patriot League First Team and the All-Defensive Team.
- Beaudry blocked the potential go-ahead shot in Friday's contest against Northeastern with six seconds left.
SOPHIE SO IMPORTANT
- In her first season as a Terrier, Beaudry burst onto the Patriot League scene averaging a league-best .509 field goal percentage and 2.1 blocks per game.Â
- The senior notched double digit scoring figures in all but three league contests and led the Terriers in points (12.9) and rebounds (6.0) per game.Â
- Hailing from Chambly, Quebec, Beaudry posted four double-doubles and six 20-point games.
KEEPING IT LOCAL
- • Of BU's 10 non-conference opponents, nine are from the northeast and three are located in Massachusetts.
- BU plays all three Boston-area schools in the first five games of the season, as it opened the season against Northeastern and will take on Harvard and Boston College next week.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
- The Wildcats won their first-ever America East regular season title last year, posting a 15-1 mark to go with a program-best 26-6 record on the season.
- UNH was the unanimous America East coaches' preseason poll pick to finish atop the conference once again.
- Senior Carlie Pogue, the reigning America East Player of the Year, is one of four returnees to the starting lineup. Pogue notched a team-high 16.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game last season.
- The Wildcats fell at Xavier, 71-66, in their season opener on Saturday.
- All five members of the starting lineup (Kat Fogarty, Olivia Healy, Brittni Lai, Carlie Pogue and Aliza Simpson) are seniors.
- Head coach Maureen Magarity has turned the Wildcats' program around, posting winning seasons in four out of her seven years at the helm.
- Â Last season, New Hampshire posted its first 20-win season since the 1982-83 team went 23-7.
THE SERIES
- The Wildcats have had the upper hand recently in the series as they've taken the last three matchups.
- BU previously rode a 13-game win streak over New Hampshire and will look for its first win in Durham since 2013.
- The former America East foes have squared off in each season dating back to the 1978.
