EIF article on De Bona
BOSTON – After totaling a combined 38 points his last two seasons with the Boston University men's soccer team, recent alum Felix De Bona ('16) signed a professional contract with Ekenäs IF, a First Division club in Finland.
A native of Somerville, Mass., he got off to a strong start in the professional ranks with a goal in each of his first two games with EIF. In the fall with the Terriers, De Bona was tied for the team lead in both goals (8) and points (18).
The two-time All-Region and Patriot League All-Conference honoree ended this past year on a tear, as he scored a pair of goals at Loyola Maryland along with game winners against Lafayette and Dartmouth, who had an RPI ranking of 18 at the time. He also assisted on a goal against Bucknell and on the game winner against Navy to help the Terriers clinch the PL tournament berth.
"We're obviously happy for Felix," said head coach Neil Roberts. "He excelled here for us on the field as a player and was able to graduate in three and a half years. This is a life-long dream for Felix, and we will be rooting for him."
De Bona is now the second BU alum to be actively competing in Finland, as former team captain Richie Dorman ('09) is a member of SJK.
