
No. 24 Terriers Continue Homestand with No. 5 UConn on Sunday

BOSTON - The No. 24 Boston University field hockey team continues its three-game homestand on Sunday (Oct. 21) with a visit from defending national champion UConn.

The Terriers are coming off a 5-1 win over Lehigh on Saturday that clinched a fourth straight Patriot League regular-season title.
Fifth-ranked UConn improved to 13-3 on the year with a 6-1 home victory over No. 19 Liberty on Thursday. The Huskies have alternated wins and losses over their past five contests and their top wins this season have come against Syracuse, Michigan and Northwestern.
This will be the 41st meeting between BU and UConn with the Huskies holding a 32-8 advantage in the series, which dates back to 1982. The teams have met every season since the first meeting.
Cecile Pieper joined the Huskies as a fifth-year this season and has made an immediate impact with team high in points (41) and goals (16). Junior Svea Bover has 32 points (11g, 10a) while classmate Antonia Tiedtke (5g, 16a) and freshman Abby Gooderham (9g, 8a) have added 26 points apiece.
Redshirt freshman Cheyenne Sprecher has started all 16 games in goal for UConn and has a 1.34 goals-against average and a .764 save percentage.
In Saturday's win, sophomore Maggie New became the 14th Terrier to score a goal this season. Classmate Ailsa Connolly scored twice against Lehigh and now holds the team lead in goals (8) and points (18). Seniors Ally Hammel (4g, 5a) and Kara Enoch (4g, 2a) have 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Senior Kathleen Keegan has started all 14 games in goal and has a 1.82 goals-against average along with a .577 save percentage.
