Terriers Continue Partnership with Harlem Lacrosse-Boston

The Boston University men's and women's lacrosse teams continued their partnership with Harlem Lacrosse-Boston on Wednesday, when students from TechBoston Academy in Dorchester visited the BU campus for a day of college awareness and mentoring.
The young lacrosse players arrived on campus Wednesday afternoon, toured the teams' locker rooms and then had lunch with the Terriers at the West Campus Dining Hall. After lunch, the group was taken on an informational tour that included seeing the view from Student Village 2, a visit to dorm rooms on East Campus, meeting with BU Admissions, and a Q&A hosted by BU students about college life. The visitors then played lacrosse with the BU men's and women's lacrosse teams on New Balance Field.
"It is always great to have Harlem Lacrosse visit the BU campus and learn more about college life," said head men's lacrosse coach Ryan Polley, who sits on the Harlem Lacrosse Boston advisory board. "Getting these kids to think about college is something that is very important and we hope they all strive to attend a great university like ours."
The day was part of the Boston University men's and women's lacrosse teams' ongoing partnership with the nonprofit group Harlem Lacrosse, which strives to help high poverty and special education students reach their full potential through mentoring, tutoring and coaching in an effort to build confidence and skill sets on the field and in the classroom.
"What a phenomenal experience to have Harlem Lacrosse visit campus and get to spend the day with our players," said head women's lacrosse coach Lauren Morton. "It is not only an enjoyable day for them but for our program as well. We love getting to share everything about BU with them from the dining hall, to athletic facilities and day to day life of our players. Inspiring the next generation to see the opportunities provided by attending college is something we hope to continue to do."
Founded in New York in 2011 with just 35 students, Harlem Lacrosse now operates eleven programs and serves over 450 boys and girls in New York, Baltimore, and Boston and also launched programming in Philadelphia in 2017.
