No. 23 Field Hockey Falls Short Against No. 11 Harvard, 2-0
October 7, 2018 | Field Hockey
BOSTON – Despite a career-high eight saves from senior Kathleen Keegan, the No. 23 Boston University field hockey team dropped a 2-0 contest to No. 11 Harvard on Sunday afternoon at New Balance Field.
The Terriers fall to 7-5 on the year while the Crimson extend its win streak to eight games and improves to 11-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Keegan was impressive in the opening half, stopping all five Crimson shots she faced before halftime.
- BU earned a corner as time expired in the opening half but was unable to take advantage of it.
- The Terriers nearly opened the scoring in the 47th minute when senior Kara Enoch created space and fired off a shot that was stopped by Harvard netminder Ellie Shahbo.
- Freshman Rebecca Janes corralled the rebound off the Enoch shot but her attempt was blocked by a Harvard defender.
- After 54 scoreless minutes, Harvard got on the board when Maddie Earl forced a turnover in the middle of the circle and quickly slotted a shot past Keegan at 54:20.
- Just over three minutes later, Rachel Greenwood added an insurance goal for the visitors when she dribbled through the left side of the circle and scored from seven yards out.
GAME NOTES
- Keegan's eight saves were the most by a BU goalkeeper since Cammy Jensen made nine against Syracuse on Oct. 23, 2016.
- Shahbo recorded two saves for Harvard to pick up her first collegiate shutout.
- The Crimson held a 17-6 advantage in shots and earned six corners while allowing one.
- All five of BU's losses this season have come against ranked teams.

- BU will return to action on Saturday (Oct. 13) when it visits Bucknell.
- Game time at Graham Field is set for 11 a.m.
