BOSTON – Making its fifth-straight Patriot League tournament appearance, the No. 4-seeded Boston University men's soccer team will host No. 5 Army West Point in a quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday night with action slated to begin at 7 p.m.

CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT NOTES

Seven-time conference tournament champion and three-time runner-up BU is 17-10-8 (.600) all-time in conference tourneys and 1-2-3 (.417) in quarterfinal action ... BU last won a tournament in 2008 and last reached the NCAAs in 2015.
The Terriers are making their fourth appearance as the No. 4 seed with a 2-1-1 all-time mark ... They last hosted a quarterfinal matchup in 2016 and fell to Bucknell on penalty kicks following a 1-1 draw.
BU is making its fifth-straight PL tournament appearance, as only the top six in the standings earn a berth ... The Terriers are 1-2-2 with a semifinal win and overtime title game loss in 2014 ... Following the loss to American in 2015, BU fell to Bucknell (2016) and Holy Cross (2017) via penalty kicks.

TERRIER TIDBITS

BU had three Terriers earn All-Patriot League accolades ... Senior defender Josh Barkoff was named All-PL Second Team, while both freshman midfielder Kari Petursson and senior goalkeeper Mike Bernardi were placed on the third team.
Petursson ranks second on the team in both points (11) and goals (3) while leading the team in assists (5) ... Junior and currently injured Matt McDonnell remains the team leader in points (12) after tallying six goals through the first five games of the season.
Bernardi started all nine PL games and recorded a 1.07 GAA with a 0.783 save percentage and shutouts against Lafayette, Holy Cross and the Black Knights.
Junior Satchel Cortet is third on the team with eight points off two goals and four assists ... Senior Adam Wright has scored a goal in two of the last four games with a score at Navy and the game winner vs. Bucknell on Oct. 28.
The Terriers went 4-5-1 at home during the regular season with a win against defending Atlantic 10 champion UMass and most recently a 2-1 OT victory over Bucknell.
Opponents are averaging 2.5 more shots per game and own a 70-57 advantage in corners.

SCOUTING ARMY WEST POINT

Following the 1-0 loss to BU, Army dropped a 3-2 decision at Holy Cross and then scored twice in the final 10 minutes of regulation to clinch a PL tourney berth with a 2-1 home win against American.
After dropping a pair of 3-0 decisions to both Colgate and Lehigh to open PL play, the Black Knights went 3-1 with wins over Lafayette (1-0), Bucknell (3-1) and Navy (4-1) along with a 2-0 loss to Loyola Maryland.
Army is 3-5-0 on the road this season with wins over San Diego State (2-1), Siena (3-0) and Mount Saint Mary;s (2-0).
All-PL First Team honoree Keenan O'Shea has been impressive for Army this season with a team-high 26 points off 11 goals and four assists, well ahead of Eric Whiteman's seven points (3g,1a) … Zac McGraw is second on the team with three helpers.
Justin Stoll has started all 17 games and owns a 1.44 GAA with a 0.667 save percentage.
Opponents are averaging 0.5 more shots per game and have an 85-68 advantage in corner kicks.

SERIES HISTORY

The Terriers own an 8-2-1 advantage in a series that dates back to 1978 ... They are 5-1-1 since joining the Patriot League.
On Oct. 24 at Nickerson Field, Petursson scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 12th minute.
BU finished with a 7-6 advantage in shots ... Bernardi posted three saves, and senior David Riccio recorded a team save.
The teams last met in the PL tournament in 2014 at Nickerson Field with the Terriers claiming a 1-0 2OT victory off the foot of current Major League Soccer (MLS) starter Dominique Badji ('14) ... Army recorded 10 saves, as BU posted a 22-12 advantage in shots.
