No. 22 Terriers Defeated by No. 24 Miami, 2-0

BOSTON - Playing in the NCAA Tournament for the 14th time in program history, the No. 22 Boston University field hockey team was defeated by No. 24 Miami, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon at New Balance Field.
The Terriers did not allow a corner all game but the visiting RedHawks scored their goals 65 seconds apart midway through the second half and got a pair of defensive saves in their circle.
BU, which won its second straight Patriot League championship, finished its season at 12-8 while reigning Mid-American Conference champion Miami improved to 16-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers attempted three shots in the opening 35 minutes to just one for the RedHawks.
- Mariona Heras and Morgan Sturm scored in a span of 1:05 to give Miami a 2-0 lead in the 56th minute.
- BU earned a corner with less than nine minutes to play, but the RedHawks defended it thanks to a defensive save by Kirsten McNeil on an elevated deflection to maintain their two-goal advantage.
- The Terriers continued to press and had two more corners in less than a minute, but BU was unable to convert on either chance.
- BU pulled senior goalkeeper Kathleen Keegan with 6:00 remaining in regulation in an attempt to cut into the two-goal deficit, but the RedHawks held on for the victory.
GAME NOTES
- BU doubled up Miami in shots, 8-4.
- The Terriers earned five corners while holding the RedHawks to zero.
- BU finished the contest with two shot on goals, both resulting in defensive saves.
- The Terriers fell to 4-2 all-time in the NCAA play-in/opening round.

- Wednesday was the final game for six sensational seniors - Maika Akroyd, Jordyn Beesmer, Allie Doggett, Kara Enoch, Ally Hammel and Keegan.
- They will graduate having won three Patriot League titles, four Patriot League regular-season titles and two NCAA Tournament games.
