Worcester, Mass. – Led by
Anna Heilferty's first career brace, the Boston University women's soccer team blanked Holy Cross, 3-0, in a Turnpike Trophy matchup Wednesday night at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium.
The win marked the 300th victory in program history, with head coach
Nancy Feldman guiding the Terriers in each of their 24 seasons at the varsity level.
How It Happened
- BU dominated possession to start the game, lining up three shots in the first 10 minutes.
- Heilferty broke through in the 23rd minute as she went one-on-one with a Crusader defender, firing a rocket from the left side of the box that banged off the right post and into the back of the net.
- The Terriers dominated possession, as Holy Cross didn't get a shot off until the 32nd minute.
- The Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year wasn't done with her assault on the net as the second half started.
- Libby Closson lofted a feed towards the 12-yard box, where Heilferty headed in her second score of the night in the 53rd minute.
- McKenna Doyle got in on the scoring just five minutes later, taking the ball from the far end of the field and managed to get an angle before driving the ball past the keeper.
- BU remained in control of possession through the game, finishing with an 18-8 command in shots.

Game Notes
- Heilferty, the Turnpike Trophy MVP, has seven points over the last three games and recorded at least one point in each conference games this season.
- American's Yari Bradfield and Heilferty are the lone two players in league who have picked up at least one point in all three conference games thus far.
- Thursday marked the fifth time in the last six games against Holy Cross that BU has scored thrice.
- The Terriers have now won nine straight games against the Crusaders and have outscored their rival 16-1 since joining the Patriot League.
- BU earned the first point in the 2018-19 Turnpike Trophy series.
