BOSTON – After embarking on a five-game road trip, the Boston University men's soccer team has returned to Nickerson Field to host Holy Cross with the Turnpike Trophy contest set to begin Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

The matchup marks the beginning of the fifth-annual Turnpike Trophy all-sports competition between the Terriers and Crusaders. BU has won the previous four trophies by a combined score of 83-12.

TERRIER TIDBITS

BU is 0-2 in the Patriot League following last Saturday's 4-2 loss at Lehigh and 2-1 defeat at Lafayette.
Senior Matt McDonnell earned his third-career multi-goal performance against the Mountain Hawks and has netted his four goals in the last five games.
Owner of the team's other goal, sophomore Kari Petursson earned an assist at Lehigh alongside senior Mana Chavali.
Junior goalkeeper Michael Stone has made eight starts and has recorded a 1.94 goals against average and 0.700 save percentage.
Opponents are averaging 4.2 more shots per game and have a 43-31 advantage in corner kicks.

SCOUTING HOLY CROSS

The Crusaders are 0-2 in the Patriot League following Saturday's 3-2 double overtime loss vs. Lafayette and 4-0 defeat at Navy.
During non-conference play, HC lost to Northeastern, UMass Lowell and Boston College by a combined score of 7-3, while the Terriers fell to those three teams by a combined score of 4-1 with two of the losses occurring in 2OT.
Max Krause (2g,1a) has a team-high five points, while both Emmanuel Petrov (2g) and Jack Ostrosky (1g,2a) own four points.
Bobby Hurstak has started all eight games at net, posting a .561 save percentage and 3.04 goals against average.
Opponents have outshot HC, 127-52, and earned a 52-18 advantage in corners.

SERIES HISTORY

The Terriers lead the all-time series, 13-2-1, that dates back to 1967 and are riding a six-game unbeaten streak.
Last year, sophomore John Siracuse scored the game winner at 13:12 for a 1-0 victory in Worcester that saw the Crusaders post an 18-8 advantage in shot attempts.
Holy Cross last won, 1-0, in 2013 at Nickerson Field and last avoided defeat in 2017 when the teams finished in a 0-0 deadlock during the Patriot League semifinals.
