Field Hockey Visits Lehigh on Saturday Looking to Extend Season
October 31, 2019 | Field Hockey
Needing a win to qualify for the Patriot League tournament, the Boston University field hockey team visits Lehigh on Saturday (Nov. 2) to close the regular season. Game time at Ulrich Field is set for 11 a.m.
The Terriers (6-11, 2-3 PL) are currently tied with Holy Cross for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Patriot League standings but own the tiebreaker thanks to a 5-4 road win over the Crusaders last weekend.
Lehigh (6-11, 1-4 PL) is not mathematically out of the playoff race but would need to win by at least four goals to have any chance of claiming the fourth spot. The Mountain Hawks, who started off the season 5-1, ended a 10-game losing streak on Friday with a 4-0 home victory over Saint Louis.
Junior Drew Pecora leads the Lehigh offense and ranks second among all Patriot League players in both points (29) and goals (13) this season. Classmates Lenke Havas (5g, 6a) and Anna Lehman (5g, 2a) have added 16 and 12 points, respectively.
Freshman Maddie Kahn has started all 17 games in goal for Lehigh and has a .741 save percentage and a 2.42 goals-against average.
Junior Ailsa Connolly scored BU's lone goal on Friday and now has 28 in her career, tied for ninth all-time in program history. She leads this year's squad in both points (23) and goals (9). Jodie Conolly is one of the top rookies in the conference with four of her seven goals coming in PL play and she has added three assists for 17 points. Senior co-captain Kiley Gallagher has come on strong towards the end of the regular season and currently has 11 points on four goals and three assists.
Senior Livy Golini and freshman Caroline Kelly have three wins apiece in goal and have combined for a 2.52 goals-against average and a .677 save percentage.
BU is 6-0 all-time against Lehigh, most recently posting a 5-1 home win last season.
