BOSTON - Looking to get back on track, the Boston University field hockey team will wrap up the first half of its regular season on Saturday with a return to New Balance Field to take on Lafayette in a Patriot League match-up. Game time is set for noon.
Saturday's contest is a rematch of last season's Patriot League semifinal contest in which the Terriers held off the Leopards, 2-1, en route to their fourth conference title in five years.
The Terriers (3-5, 0-1 PL) have dropped four straight contests, including a 1-0 loss to Bucknell in their PL opener two weeks ago. BU is coming off a valiant effort against third-ranked UConn on Sunday.
Lafayette (5-5, 2-0 PL) enters the weekend having won four of its past five contests, including a 2-1 double-overtime win over No. 25 Monmouth in their most recent game on Sunday. The Leopards are at the top of the Patriot League standings with wins over Holy Cross and Colgate. They also have notched victories against Richmond and VCU.
Sophomore Molly McAndrew, the reigning PL Offensive Player of the Week, has a team-best nine points for the Leopards and shares the team lead in goals with senior Sam Di Maio at four apiece. Di Maio, freshman Felicitas Hannes (2g, 3a) and senior Caroline Turnbull (2g, 3a) all have eight points while junior Anna Steps has a squad-high five assists.
Senior Sarah Park is in her third season as the Leopards' primary goaltender and currently sports a 1.66 goals-against average and a .705 save percentage.
For the Terriers, junior Ailsa Connolly has team highs in points (12) and goals (5) while McIntyre (3g) and fellow rookie Jodie Conolly (2g, 2a) have six points apiece.
Freshman Caroline Kelly has started all seven games in goal thus far this year for BU. She has a 2.63 goals-against average and a .667 save percentage.
The Terriers are 6-1 all-time against Lafayette with the lone loss coming via a shootout in Easton, Pa., back in 2016.
