Women's Lacrosse to Support Lax With Love
October 8, 2019 | Women's Lacrosse
GRAND LAKE, Colo. - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has announced the creation of Lax with Love, a collaborative weekend of clinics across the country that will take place this November. Partnering with the One Love Foundation, the IWLCA designed this event in an effort to promote empowerment for young women both on and off the lacrosse field.
During the weekend of November 2-3, 2019, the IWLCA and One Love will host eight one-day collaboration clinics across the country. Led by over 50 of the top collegiate coaches in the game of women's lacrosse, including Boston University head coach Lauren Morton, players will have the opportunity to work on individual skills and game knowledge in a positive and inspiring atmosphere. Additionally, as part of the partnership with One Love, educators will be on site to provide every player and their family with education to help identify and manage healthy relationships.
"We are thrilled to announce this amazing multi-city clinic collaboration event with the One Love Foundation," said Kathy Taylor, IWLCA President and head coach at Colgate University. "Lax with Love was created from our desire to combine the game that we all love with an opportunity that empowers players and families to learn more about healthy relationships and give back to a wonderful cause. It is through the tremendous support from our member coaches within the IWLCA that Lax with Love is here!"
Lax with Love will utilize sites in California, Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, and Massachusetts to host the clinics. In addition, equipment companies STX, Brine, Gait Lacrosse, and String King have all committed to helping make this event possible. All proceeds from the clinics will go directly to the One Love Foundation to help fund future programming.
"We are very excited to partner with the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association to strengthen our involvement within the lacrosse community," noted One Love Foundation CEO Katie Hood. "Together, we will proactively teach the next generation about the importance of relationship health and change lives."
