Terriers Edged by No. 2 Cornell, 2-0, at Red Hot Hockey

NEW YORK - The Boston University men's ice hockey team was edged by No. 2 Cornell, 2-0, on Saturday night in the seventh edition of Red Hot Hockey at Madison Square Garden.
Cornell (9-0-0) scored two goals in a 20-second span during the second period and held off a late rally by BU (4-6-5) to earn the victory and hand the Terriers just their second defeat at Red Hot Hockey.
Graduate student Sam Tucker made 26 saves, including five on the penalty kill to hold Cornell's second-ranked power play to an 0-for-3 performance.
HOW IT HAPPENED

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers outshot the Big Red, 10-5, during the opening 20 minutes.
- Their best chance came with 6:25 to play in the period when Cornell netminder Matthew Galajda (28 saves) turned aside graduate student Alex Brink's breakaway chance.
- Cornell got on the board at the 7:39 mark of the second stanza when Michael Regush knocked home a rebound following a Tucker save. The Big Red then tallied a second goal 20 seconds later to extend its lead to 2-0.
- BU pulled Tucker in favor of an extra attacker with 2:08 remaining in regulation, but Galajda made three key saves to preserve his shutout.
- BU is just the second team all season to hold Cornell scoreless on the power play.
- Both teams attempted 28 shots on goal.
- Junior David Farrance and senior Patrick Harper each led the Terriers with four shots on net.
- BU will return to Agganis Arena on Tuesday, Dec. 3, to host Harvard.
- Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
