Sheehan Hits 400-Win Milestone as Women's Tennis Defeats Binghamton, 6-1

BOSTON – Boston University Athletic Hall of Famer and 34th-year Boston University women's tennis head coach Lesley Sheehan ('84) reached a new milestone Saturday morning, as the Terriers clinched her 400th-career win with a 6-1 victory over Binghamton at the Track & Tennis Center.
BU (4-2) won the top two doubles matches by a combined score of 12-1 and captured four singles points in straight sets to defeat the former America East foe Bearcats (0-8).

- Sophomore Emily Kim and freshman Shelly Yaloz posted a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore Lily Burchell and senior Remi Ramos blanked their opponents, 6-0, in the No. 2 slot.
- Binghamton defaulted at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, as BU extended the lead to 2-0.
- Burchell swept her opponent, 6-0, 6-0, at line 4, and Kim dropped just one game in the No. 3 slot.
- Competing in her first dual match of the season, sophomore Dani Blaser posted a 6-3, 6-1 win at line 5.
- Ramos added the final point to BU's total with a 6-4, 7-6 victory in the top singles match.
- The Bearcats avoided the sweep by claiming a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles.

MATCH NOTES
- Owning an all-time mark of 400-268 (.599), Sheehan has spent her entire collegiate coaching career at BU and has led the program to 26 conference titles and 17 NCAA appearances while being named Coach of the Year eight times by a conference, including most recently in 2017 ... Sheehan was a two-time NCAA singles participant as a student-athlete at BU and went on to receive the Scarlet Key, one of the University's highest academic honors.
- The Terriers have now beaten Binghamton in six straight matches by a combined score of 39-3.
- The Terriers will visit the Crimson on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m.
- Last year, BU edged Harvard, 4-3, for its first win in the series since 2009.
