Yaloz Named Patriot League Player of the Week

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – After collecting singles wins against both Yale and Lehigh, Boston University women's tennis freshman Shelly Yaloz has earned her first Patriot League Player of the Week award, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
A native of Queens, N.Y., Yaloz opened with a dominating 6-0 win at line 2 in doubles action alongside sophomore Emily Kim against the Mountain Hawks on Friday night in Conecticut. She then posted a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles to help BU begin conference play with a 6-1 victory over Lehigh.
In the second matchup of the weekend with the Bulldogs, Yaloz earned an impressive 6-4, 6-7(4), 10-4 win against Caroline Dunleavy, who was the No. 1 recruit in New England in 2017 according to TennisRecruiting.com and also a singles finalist at the 2016 National Women's Indoor Championships. In doubles, Yaloz and Kim came up just short, 7-6(4) to Yale's No. 2 duo that featured the 2017-18 Ivy League Rookie of the Year.
Recipient of her first career weekly honor, Yaloz leads the Terriers with a 14-7 singles record and 17-8 doubles mark.
The Terriers will next host Bryant on Friday (March 29) at 3 p.m.
