How it Happened
- Loyola put in three quick strikes to force BU to burn a timeout 2:10 into the game.
- Vervlied spun around a defender right in front of the crease and ripped a feed from Hannah Kenneally to put the Terriers on the board four minutes in.
- Following a response by the Greyhounds, Ava Barry sent in a free position shot to reduce the deficit back to a two-goal margin at the eight-minute mark.
- However, Loyola worked the clock while connecting another trio of scores to hold a five-goal command with just over 16 minutes left in the half.
- Kelly Mathews halted the run by handing a cross-crease feed from Lewis and deking the keeper with a hesitation move.
- Once again, Loyola answered on the attack, spurting a 4-0 streak before Kaitlin Belval went upper-90 on a free position shot to make it an 11-4 game.
- Lewis and Irvine each found the back of the net in the final two minutes of the half, cutting the gap to 13-6 at the break.
- Irvine scored in transition to start the second half, using her speed to slot her second straight score.
- Loyola caught fire, putting in four goals over a four-minute span to surge ahead, 17-7.
- The Greyhounds continued to press, ending the game with an 8-0 run to hand BU its first conference loss.
- BU went 3-for-4 on free position shots and held an 8-7 advantage in ground balls in the first half.
- The Greyhounds held a 21-10 advantage on the draw as well as a 37-22 lead in shots.
- Loyola has won all 10 matchups against the Terriers since both schools entered the Patriot League 2014.
- The Terriers will return home for a noon contest against American on Saturday, April 6.
- The game can be seen live on NESN as well as the Patriot League Network.
