WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The top-seeded Boston University women's tennis team opened the Patriot League tournament with a 4-0 sweep over No. 8 Lafayette on Friday morning at the Central PA Tennis Center. Originally scheduled to take place at Bucknell's Varsity Tennis Center, the match was moved indoors due to inclement weather.

The Terriers (13-8) needed less than 90 minutes to eliminate the Leopards and improve to 6-0 all-time in the PL Quarterfinals. They won the top two doubles matches by a combined score of 12-0 and then dropped just six total games in three completed singles matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Senior Remi Ramos and sophomore Lily Burchell cruised to a 6-0 win at line 1 shortly after sophomore Emily Kim and freshman Shelly Yaloz posted an identical score in the No. 2 slot.
Senior Sabrina Faybyshev put on a dominating performance at No. 5 singles, dropping just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
Kim claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win at line 3, and Yaloz clinched the team victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the top singles match.
Ramos (#2), Burchell (#4) and sophomore Katya Martens (#6) all won their respective first set and were ahead in the second when the final three matches were halted.

NEXT UP: BUCKNELL (PL SEMIFINALS)

BU will face No. 4 Bucknell on Saturday (April 27) at 10 a.m. after the Bison eliminated No. 5 Loyola Marylad, 4-0.
Due to weather, the semifinals will take place at the Central PA Tennis Center.
The Terriers are 4-1 all-time in the PL semis after dropping a hard-fought 4-3 decision to eventual champion Army last year at West Point.
BU is 1-0 all-time against the Bison in tournament action, last posting a 4-0 win in the 2014 semifinals in Lewisburg.
