Women's Lacrosse to Celebrate 40th Season
June 21, 2019 | Women's Lacrosse
BOSTON - The Boston University women's lacrosse team will welcome back all members from the program over its 40-year history from Friday, Sept. 27 through Saturday, Sept. 28.
The program began in 1980, with Chris Larson leading the inaugural season before Jane McGivney took over the following year. In 1982, current field hockey head coach Sally Starr was named the head coach, a position she held for the next six seasons. From the 1988-95 seasons, BU competed as a club sport before Sue Murphy was named the head coach as the Terriers returned to competing at the varsity level for the 1996 season. Since then, the Terriers have captured nine conference championships and have had 15 student-athletes earn All-America honors.
