BU to Host No. 2 Northeastern Friday Night at Walter Brown Arena

The Boston University women's ice hockey team will host No. 2 Northeastern on Friday night at Walter Brown Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets for Friday's game by clicking here.

This will be the first time BU and Northeastern have played since Feb. 11, 2020, when the Terriers and Huskies met at Walter Brown Arena in the Beanpot championship game.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • BU opened its season with a home-and-home sweep of New Hampshire on Oct. 1 and 2.
  • The Terriers scored the final three goals of the game on Friday to earn a 4-2 win before shutting out the Wildcats, 5-0, on Saturday at Walter Brown Arena.
  • Freshman Callie Shanahan was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week after she won her first two collegiate starts, including a 16-save shutout on Saturday.
  • Senior Courtney Correia (1g, 3a), junior Julia Nearis (2g, 2a) and senior Mackenna Parker (2g, 2a) all finished the weekend with four points.
  • Sophomore defender Andi Calderone tallied three assists in two games and was tied for the team lead in blocked shots with five.
  • BU only took three penalties over the weekend and went 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES

  • Northeastern, the 2021 national runner-up, is off to a 2-0-0 start this season thanks to a pair of shutout wins over Holy Cross.
  • The Huskies earned a 5-0 road win on Oct. 1 and a 6-0 home triumph on Oct. 2.
  • Senior Chloe Aurard led the Huskies with three goals and three assists for six points, while junior Katy Knoll recorded two goals and three assists.
  • Twelve different Northeastern skaters recorded at least one point.
  • Senior goaltender Aerin Frankel earned a 20-save shutout on Oct. 1 and then stopped all 15 shots she faced the next day before she ceded the net to junior Alexa Matses, who made two saves in the final 9:10 of that contest.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU is 31-23-9 all time against Northeastern, including a 12-12-3 record at Walter Brown.
  • Eight of the last nine matchups have been decided by two goals or fewer, including seven of those nine resulting in either a 3-3 tie or a 2-1 Northeastern win.
  • BU last defeated Northeastern on Feb. 17, 2017, a 7-2 win at Walter Brown.

  • BU will close the weekend with a trip to Durham, N.H., on Saturday to face New Hampshire for the third time in four games.
