The Boston University women's ice hockey team will open 2022 on Saturday in the opening round of the Battle at the Burgh against Syracuse at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Pittsburgh. The Terriers will then either face Penn State or St. Cloud State. Puck drop on Saturday is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday's consolation game is set for 12 p.m., with the championship contest slated for 3 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU has won four of its last six games, though it did lose its 2021 finale at No. 7/8 Yale, 3-2.
- Senior Courtney Correia provided the primary assist on both Terrier goals to extend her point streak to four games.
- Correia leads the Terriers in goals (10), assists (10) and is one of just three league skaters with at least 20 points.
- Junior Julia Nearis is tied with Correia for the team lead in assists.
- The Terriers have gone 43-for-46 (.935) on the penalty kill over the last 12 games, including a 19-for-19 stretch that ended with a 5-on-3 goal by BC in the third period of the Terriers' Nov. 21 win.
- Twenty different Terriers have notched at least one point while 12 different BU skaters have at least one goal.
- Nineteen of those 20 point producers have multiple points.
SCOUTING THE ORANGE
- Syracuse last played on Dec. 11 against Princeton, suffering a 2-1 home setback in the second of a two-game series.
- The Orange and the Tigers skated to a 4-4 tie the previous day.
- Syracuse enters 2022 with a 1-3-2 record over its last six contests.
- Senior Abby Moloughney leads Syracuse with 15 points thanks to eight assists and a team-high seven goals.
- Freshman Madison Primeau has also scored seven goals.
- Freshman Sarah Marchand is second on the squad with 14 points thanks to five goals and a team-best nine assists.
- Senior goaltender Arielle DeSmet has started 13 of the 16 games in which she has appeared, posting a 5-6-3 record with one shutout.
- DeSmet owns a .931 save percentage and a 2.25 goals-against average.
FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
- This will be the first time that BU and Syracuse have met one another.
- The Orange will become the 34th Division I team that the Terriers have played in program history, and the 31st current Division I squad that the Terriers have faced.
- Only Bemidji State, Colgate, Lindenwood and the entire NEWHA conference remain unfamiliar foes for the Terriers.
- Following this weekend's tournament, BU will return to Massachusetts for a home-and-home series against Boston College that begins in Chestnut Hill on Friday, Jan. 7.
- The two rivals will skate at Walter Brown Arena on Saturday, Jan. 8, at 4 p.m.
