BOSTON - Adjusting the schedule, the Boston University women's lacrosse team has bumped up its game at Holy Cross to take place on Saturday, April 10. Originally scheduled for Sunday, opening draw is now set for noon on Saturday.
BU is coming off its two highest offensive outputs during its two-game homestead, with its most recent outing an 18-7 victory over Lafayette last Sunday. Makenzie Irvine and Emily Vervlied combined for 16 points, as Irvine set career highs in goals (7), while Vervlied set new career marks in both assists (6) and points (9). Vervlied was named the Patriot League Midfielder of the Week for the first time in her career on Monday. Kendall Sims was also recognized by the Patriot League as she was named the Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after tallying four ground balls, two draw controls and one goal against the Crusaders.
Megan Hickey filled in spectacularly in between the pipes, finishing with 10 saves and a .588 save percentage. Jennifer Barry had another dominating performance on the draw, winning 16 decisions, and leads the league in draw controls per game (9.14).
Saturday's contest will not count towards the Patriot League North Division standings, though it will count as a conference game. BU currently stands in third place with a 2-1 divisional record.
Holy Cross is in the midst of a three-game losing streak and enters the weekend with a 2-4 overall record, which includes a 1-3 clip in North Division contests. Jolie Creo is the top threat on the attack as she leads the league in goals per game (6.) and is tied for the top spot in goals per game (4.5).
Barry broke the program's single-game draw control record in the first half of the previous matchup, a 17-12 win, and finished with 18 draw controls on the day. The Terriers assisted on 14 of their 17 goals and limited the Crusaders to complete just 14-of-24 clear attempts.
