The Boston University women's ice hockey team continues its run of 12 straight Hockey East games with a home-and-home weekend against Merrimack, starting in North Andover on Friday (Oct. 28).
TERRIER TIDBITS
- The Terriers are looking to snap a three-game losing streak, most recently dropping a 5-4 contest to Boston College on Saturday.
- BU is 8-0-5 in its past 13 meetings with the Warriors.
- Senior Julia Nearis (2g, 2a) and freshman Clara Yuhn (3g, 1a) are tied for the team lead in points with four each.
- Graduate student Andrea Brändli ranks fourth nationally in save percentage (.963) and ninth in goals-against average (1.00).
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
- Merrimack is winless in its past six contests and most recently ended a five-game winless streak with a 2-2 draw at UConn on Saturday that ended with a shootout loss.
- The Warriors' lone win was a 2-0 triumph over Syracuse on Oct. 1.
- Senior Katie Kaufman leads the team in points (5) and goals (3) while sophomore Tara Blackburn has added four points on the strength of a squad-best three assists.
- Merrimack is 1-for-21 on the power play (4.8%) and its penalty kill is 33-of-37 (89.2%).
- Freshman Calli Hogarth and senior Emma Gorksi have split time in goal and Hogarth holds the edge in goals-against average (2.75 - 3.40) and save percentage (.925 - .908).
BU-MERRIMACK SERIES HISTORY
- The Terriers are 13-2-5 against the Warriors over the last seven seasons, including a 6-1-3 record at Walter Brown Arena and a 6-1-2 mark at Lawler Rink.
- BU has not lost to Merrimack since a 2-1 defeat at Walter Brown on Sept. 23, 2017.
- The Terriers are 8-0-5 against the Warriors during that span.
UP NEXT
- The Terriers will next take part in their fourth straight home-and-home weekend as they will host Providence on Friday (Nov. 4) before visiting the Friars the following day.
