HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU jumped out to a 2-0 within the first two minutes of play on free position goals from junior Lauren Kaye and Spaeth.
- The Terrier defense caused five of Fairfield's seven turnovers in the first quarter, but the Stags scored five straight goals, three on the free position, to lead 5-2 after 15 minutes.
- Fairfield's run extended to six consecutive goals before Spaeth converted another free position tally with 11:33 until halftime.
- Gola followed with an unassisted rip after gaining separation near the right hashmark to pull BU within 6-4 with less than minutes to go in the second.
- Though the Stags scored twice within 39 seconds, the Terriers closed the half with three goals in a row. Barry found Tick for a catch-and-shoot goal on a restart as the clock fell under five minutes, then Tick found the back of the net 1:19 later.
- Spaeth secured the hat trick when she picked up a loose ball, raced within five meters of the goal and scored straightaway, cutting the Terrier deficit to 8-7 at halftime.
- The third quarter's first goal came with just under five minutes gone by when Talluto beat Agres to give the Stags a two-goal lead.
- In the final minute of the third and down by three goals, Agres made two stops on Talluto, including one when the Stag was footsteps away in front.
- Just 1:26 into the fourth quarter, Barry waited until Gola cut through the middle, and the latter shot across her body to light the lamp.
- Pinho cut the gap to 10-9 after taking a pass 15 meters away on the left side, rolling to her left, and racing past her defender to score on a bounce shot.
- Less than a minute later, Spaeth went low-low on a shot just outside the eight-meter arc. The ball went through the Fairfield goalie's legs and trickled in to knot the game at 10.
- The Stags hit the post on two separate possessions before Rowe's free position goal made it 12-10 with 6:23 to play.
- With 2:08 remaining and trailing 13-10, Agres made her final save of the day on Kozak, but Harrell found Rowe for the game's final goal with 25 seconds to go.
