May 23, 2022 | Women's Lacrosse
BALTIMORE, Md. – For the first time in her career, junior Jennifer Barry has been named an Inside Lacrosse Media All-American, capturing Third Team honors as a draw specialist for the 2022 season.
Announced by the organization on Monday morning, the Inside Lacrosse 2022 Women's Division I All-Americans are voted on by members of the media. Voters were asked to select players for first, second, and third teams by position along with those who should be acknowledged as honorable mention players.
Barry is the first Terrier to earn All-American recognition by the website under fifth-year Head Coach Lauren Morton. Inside Lacrosse previously honored Barry in April of 2021, when she was tabbed for the publication's Midseason All-American list as an honorable mention. Barry was one of seven Patriot League student-athletes to appear on the 2022 All-American docket, with the other six hailing from league champion Loyola Maryland.
Barry is eligible for IWLCA All-American honors with her All-Region selection. Those awards will be announced on Thursday (May 26).
The award adds to a long tally of Barry's accolades following a historic 2022 campaign. Two weeks ago, Barry was named to the IWLCA's All-Region Second Team as a draw specialist. She also received Academic All-Patriot League and Preseason All-Patriot League Team honors this year.
In 2022, Barry smashed BU's all-time and single-season draw control records, totaling 156 on the year to set the Patriot League's single-season mark as well. Her 9.18 draw controls per game ranks fourth in the nation as of writing. She is one of six student-athletes in Division I this season to record over 150 draw controls.
Thanks to eight draw controls in the season finale against American on Apr. 29, Barry capped her junior campaign with 239 across her three seasons, breaking Class of 2016 alumna Jill Horka's previous record of 236. Barry has averaged 7.71 draw controls per contest in 31 career games, which stands as the second-highest active average in the country.
Outside of the draw, Barry finished the campaign with a career-high 18 goals and 26 points, ranking third on the team in the latter category. Her .563 shot percentage paced the Terriers (minimum 10 shots). The Lake Grove, N.Y. native also scooped up 20 ground balls and caused nine turnovers.
In her career, Barry has notched 31 goals, 14 assists, and 45 points on a .564 shooting percentage.
