The Boston University field hockey team returns to its schedule on Saturday (Sept. 24) with a Patriot League home game against Holy Cross before taking on No. 14 Harvard on Sunday (Sept. 25). Both games start at 1 p.m. on Harvard's Berylson Field.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Sophomore Payton Anderson was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after scoring two goals, including the game winner, against Lehigh in the league opener.
- BU earned two of the weekly awards as freshman Amalia Preece collected the PL Rookie of the Week honor following her first collegiate goal in the Lehigh win.
- The Terriers are coming off a hard-fought 3-1 loss at No. 20 Massachusetts on Monday.
- Junior Tess Csejka has scored a goal in six of BU's games, including three straight.
- The Terriers' past three goals have all been assisted by graduate student Casey Thompson.
- BU has had the same exact starting lineup in all eight games thus far this season.
- In goal, senior Caroline Kelly and junior Kate Thomason have split time down the middle in each contest and Kelly holds advantages in both goals-against average (2.25 - 2.82) and save percentage (.710 - .500).
SCOUTING HOLY CROSS
- The Crusaders snapped a five-game losing streak on Tuesday when they posted a 7-3 home victory over Merrimack.
- Holy Cross' other win came at Cal-Davis.
- In their Patriot League opener last weekend, the Crusaders dropped a 3-1 home contest against Bucknell.
- Sophomore Meggan Fourie leads the team in both points (11) and goals (5).
- Seniors Gabby Venzia (3g, 1a) and Sinead Walsh (1g, 5a) have each contributed seven points while junior Katie Guden six points on three goals.
- Junior Brooke Ross has been in goal for all but one quarter this year and sports a 2.17 goals-against average and a .710 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU is 25-2-1 all-time against the Crusaders and has won the past 25 meetings dating back to 1983.
- The Terriers closed out the regular season last year with a 6-1 triumph at Holy Cross.
SCOUTING HARVARD
- The Crimson opened Ivy League play on Friday with a 3-1 victory over Columbia for their 10th straight conference win.
- Harvard has reeled off four straight wins since suffering back-to-back losses against UConn and Maryland.
- The Crimson have benefited from a balanced scoring attack with eight players having scored at least one goal.
- Freshman Bronte-May Brough has a squad-best three goals and is tied with sophomore Emily Guckian (1g, 4a) in points with six.
- Senior goalkeeper Ellie Shabao has been impressive this season with a .760 save percentage and a 0.84 goals-against average.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Terriers are 20-17-1 all-time against the Crimson but have come up short in the past five meetings, including a hard-fought 1-0 contest last season.
