The Terriers improve to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in Patriot League play while the Crusaders fall to 2-7 with an 0-2 conference mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers scored on the first shot of the game as Coulo separated herself from a defender and penetrated the circle from the right side before slipping a ball to the far corner of the cage at 2:35 for her first tally as a Terrier.
- Holy Cross threatened to equalize soon after off a corner but senior netminder Caroline Kelly made a good stop off a rebound bid in the sixth minute to protect the early lead.
- That would be the last shot the Crusaders would muster for the remainder of the contest as the BU defense was impenetrable.
- The third quarter featured a spurt of cards, including a yellow on each side.
- BU earned four of their nine corners in the fourth quarter and scored on two of them.
- Borzymowski drilled a shot to the boards from the top of the circle off assists from graduate student Casey Thompson and junior Thalia Steenssens at the 51:04 mark.
- Up 2-0, BU tacked on one more for good measure when Borzymowski capitalized off another corner at 57:15 when she took a pass from sophomore Payton Anderson and converted from the right side of the circle.
- The Terriers closed out the 3-0 win as Kelly secured her first career shutout.
- BU held an 11-3 edge in shots and did not allow one during the final 54 minutes of play.
- The Terriers earned nine corners and allowed only one.
- Brooke Ross made two saves in goal for the Crusaders.
- Starr joins Nancy Stevens, Karen Shelton, Beth Anders, Missy Meharg and Char Morett in the Division I 500-win club.
- Thompson has assisted on four of BU's past six goals.
- The Terriers will return to action on Sunday (Sept. 25) when they take on No. 14 Harvard.
- Game time at Berylson Family Field is set for 1 p.m.
