Griffin Joins Women’s Lacrosse Staff

BOSTON – Brindi Griffin, who led the University of Maryland to the 2017 and 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse National Championships, joined the Boston University women's lacrosse team as an assistant coach, head coach Lauren Morton announced.
 
Griffin comes to BU from Patriot League rival Navy where she helped the Mids finish the season 13-6 overall with a 6-3 PL record. She also helped Navy advance to the semifinals in the Patriot League Tournament. Griffin saw the Mids ranked for eight weeks in the 2023 season and was integral in the development of standout freshman Ava Yovino.
 
"We are thrilled to welcome Brindi to the program," said Morton. "Brindi brings incredible experience as a player and coach at the highest level. She is a great teacher, enthusiastic leader, and compassionate coach. She has already made an impact and we look forward to her helping us take the program to the next level."
 
In 2022, Griffin assisted on Navy's journey to a 15-5 (7-2 PL) record and an appearance at the Patriot League Championships. She also coached Navy to 372 points on 269 goals and 103 assists in 20 games that season.
 
As a player at Maryland, Griffin helped the Terrapins reach a 78-13 record in five years which included two NCAA titles (2017, 19) and two Big Ten championships (2017, 18). She also helped Maryland clinch the regular season Big Ten title in 2017, '18 and '19. In 2019, Griffin was named to the NCAA and Big Ten All-Tournament Teams.
 
"I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to join the BU Women's Lacrosse team," Griffin said. "I am thankful to Coach Morton and Coach Clevenger for bringing me on the staff and I'm excited to be a part of the BU family."
 
Griffin made 66 starts in 91 games played, totaling 199 points on 132 goals and 67 assists. She also recorded 62 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers and 10 draw controls.
 
In 2020, Griffin was named an Inside Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American and was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. She made that list again in 2021 and was also given IWLCA Second-Team All-Region distinction. She was a captain and earned Big Ten All-Academic honors in both of those years.
 
Griffin graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor's degree in criminology and criminal justice with a minor in public leadership.
