Returning for a 15th year, the Terrier Twelve recognizes the top 12 achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous year. Check back each Tuesday and Friday this summer as we count down this year's Terrier Twelve on GoTerriers.com.
Coming in at number eight in this year's Terrier 12 is men's tennis, highlighted by a Patriot League runner-up finish and freshman
Corey Craig claiming the program's first conference Rookie of the Year award.
Seeded third, the Terriers blanked No. 6 Colgate, 4-2, and then eliminated No. 2 Army West Point, 4-2, to reach their first conference final since finishing runner-up in the 1999 America East tournament. They battled four-time defending PL champion and top-seeded Navy to three sets in five of the six singles matches before ultimately coming up short, 4-0.
During the PL semifinals, the Black Knights captured the doubles point and a singles point in straight sets, but Craig, freshman
Alejandro Licea, junior
Ben Letzer and junior
Jonah Dickson all prevailed in singles action to help BU snap a 12-match losing streak in the series against Army. BU ended the year at 14-12 after totaling a combined 18 wins over the previous four seasons.
Craig finished the season winning his last six completed singles matches at line 2 en route to a team-high 19 victories, highlighted by dual wins over Dartmouth, Navy and Marist following fall wins against Brown and Boston College. He claimed the program's first major Patriot League year-end award since the Terriers joined the PL in the summer of 2013 and was also a recipient of All-PL First Team accolades.
The doubles pair of Licea and sophomore
Dion Loutas joined Craig in earning All-PL honors by being placed on the second team. They combined for 10 wins, highlighted by No. 1 victories over No. 13 Harvard, Dartmouth and Bryant. Loutas earned seven wins in the top singles slot during the spring, while Licea earned 13 with nine occurring at line 3.
Letzer added one more award by earning a spot on the Academic All-PL squad thanks to a 4.00 spring GPA and nine dual singles victories. He along with the other 10 Terriers are all back for the 2023-24 season and will look to hoist their first trophy since 1996.
