Watchorn, Kessel Named to Hockey Canada Coaching Staffs

CALGARY, Alta. – Two members of the Boston University women's hockey coaching staff will have prominent roles within Hockey Canada for the 2023-24 season as Tara Watchorn has been named head coach of Canada's National Women's Under-18 Team and Courtney Kessel will serve as an assistant coach for the National Women's Team.
At the 2023 IIHF Word Women's U18 Championship in January, Kessel (head coach) and Watchorn (asst. coach) led Team Canada to a gold medal.
The Under-18 Team will gather in Ontario for selection camp from Aug. 9-13 in advance of a three-game series against the United States that will take place Aug. 14-20 in Lake Placid. The 2024 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship in Switzerland will take place Jan. 6-14.
Canada's National Team will head will hold its Fall Festival training camp from Sept. 10-17 in Ontario in preparation for the 2023-24 season, which includes the Rivalry Series with Team USA. The 2024 IIHF Women's World Championship will take place in April in Utica.

Watchorn was also an assistant on the gold-medal winning U18 squad in 2022 while Kessel did the same in 2019.
